Simple Night

So Jason had to work late tonight, so I wanted something super easy to cook for dinner, so I could just focus on cleaning the house since it looks like a tsunami hit it,minus the water… So Kirra and I were off to Cub. She wanted an Apple, so I bought her a honey crisp apple, and before i could even stop her she bit into the apple! I told her not to eat so much of it,but she didn’t really understand why. I explained to her that we get charged by the weight, and if she eats too much of it, we’ll be stealing some of the apple. She didn’t eat anymore of it, and we got some pizza, and some snacks, and got out! Once I got home I hopped on facebook for a quick minute and saw that Grey’s Anatomy is all new tonight! AWESOME! I have more shows this fall than ever before. I should become a TV Critic! Kirra is newly in love with Angelina Ballerina shows which is a welcome reprive from the constant Dora! But ask anyone, or ask me. I can impersonate Dora better than Catlin Sanchez, who actually voices Dora. To my surprise I recently learned that she was terminated in October 2010… so I feel pretty confident that I could easily take over for her. Too bad we’re not moving out to California anytime soon. Maybe I could do the voiceover work from home. Tonight is very very chill. And i’m not just referring to the weather, which has taken a sharp turn cold! I’m not complaining at all. I like cold fall days more than anyone I know… but tonight is very chill uneventful! Throw back a glass of wine…Clean the kitchen, do some laundry, and straighten anything else up that’s gone astray! Happy Thursday everyone!

Weekend Re-Cap

What a great weekend we had!

Friday night I took Kirra to our cousin Bella’s Figure Skating show and Kirra was mesmerized! That’s all she could talk about the rest of the weekend was figure skating herself.  Bella was in two numbers, and did a very cute job.

Saturday I woke up and went garage sailing around with Theo! I found some old vintage cameras to put on display, a few old books, and a huge bin full of little people for Kirra which is great since she still really loves little people! We got to keep the rubber maid bin too which makes Jason and I happy for easy cleanup!

Today is lounge around day for the most part. Jason was a hero and let me sleep in until almost noon! Kirra came in about every 30 minutes though starting at 10: 00 a.m. asking about ice skating! We did go about 1pm and she had fun! She even did the pusher a lot by herself this time too which saved my back!

Once we got in the car she informed me that was fun but she wants to do gymnastics instead. She is such a silly girl.  We went home had a snack unloaded groceries that came from Coborns (which by the way is AWESOME) and she’s napping now, and I am cleaning, couponing and blogging!

Time to make tacos for dinner, and play little people!

Weekend Re-Cap

Saturday we were going to go to the MN Zoo,but we woke up to 30 degrees, and a dusting of snow on the ground. We also slept in and snuggled for quite a while, so we didn’t get off to an early start.

After breakfast, and watching Ponyo again (Kirra watches it about twice a day or so)… I decided to take Kirra to the Children’s Museum for a little fun! We had a blast, and it really wasn’t too busy!

Once we left the Children’s museum, Kirra and I went to church, and then headed home for supper, which was  a homemade pizza! We all had fun making it and it tasted DELICIOUS! Finished off with an ice cream cone, and watched Ponyo again! (Yes.. we did!)
Today [Sunday] we woke up early and went to the MN Zoo. It was really fantastic!  Since we’ve only been to Como since Kirra was born, this was a real treat! We got to see all of the animals, and even got to see a cow being milked. Kirra’s favorite animals were the MN Otters, the goats, and the dolphin.
Jason’s were the wolf, and the Bald Eagle. I think my favorites were the MN Grey Wolf, goats, because you got to go right in there and pet them, and the Tigers, which came so close to the glass I stared in his/her eyes for a second or two. I always knew that Tigers were big… but when you can see it from ground to 14 foot glass, and you’re sitting there hands to the glass, tiger nose to the glass you relize how small you really are! Magnificent!

We came home and watched Ponyo again, and took a nap on the couch. I went on a 3.33 mile run after dinner, and smashed all of my old records since 2004! (AWESOME!)

Time to quiet this soul. We all have a busy morning, and we all had a busy day!

Great Weekend

What a great weekend!!! Friday began with some wine with my neighbor on the front patio. She’s like a built in aunt, or mom right next door, and we were long overdue for a girl chat, then I was off to my sister’s to make homemade cards…

Saturday we were up fairly early because the septic guy came to clean us out,and who can sleep with that racket? Then it was cleaning day, and then off to the Wild game! Jason got tickets from his work, so they were awesome seats! We ate a yummy dinner at the Liffey before the game too! The game was AMAZING even though we lost!
Today was really nice too. We woke up early again and took Kirra to a movie. Today was “Kirra day”. So we went to Alpha & Omega (an animated movie), and we were the ONLY ones in the movie theatre. Which was probably a good thing since she wasn’t completely quiet the whole movie! We just know that 10am on a Sunday is a great time to take a three year old to the movies! She thought it was so cool though to have popcorn and share my icee with her. After we got back we put her down for a nap and I ran to the grocery store. Once I got back I woke her up early from her nap and we headed for the pumpkin patch with my brother and sister’s families.
We went to the petting area, and Kirra got to pet and feed lots of goats, sheep, and more goats… and then we went down a REALLY big slide! Kirra thought that was kind of a big deal! Then we did mazes and off to get pumpkins! Most kids want the BIGGEST pumpkins, but Kirra wanted a super small pumpkin. So that’s what we looked for, and we found three pumpkins that fit our style. Two seed pumpkins which are really little, and only weighed 3 pounds, and our biggest one was only 7 pounds.
This week is semi relaxing for us! We just have gymnastics this week, which is the second to last one. Then I think we’ll be moving away from gymnastics for a while anyways. I asked Kirra what she wanted to do and she said Swimming. So I will sign her up at the Y near our house. She is my little Dara Toress so while that other kid was great at gymnastics, ours can swim. They all have their different strengths, and no child is the same, and that’s OK!

And now that I’ve had some sleep….

I feel like I haven’t blogged in so long! In reality, its only been just over a week, but for a while I was pretty good about keeping everyone up to date on the happenings in our residence.

Last week was the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon and related weekend events. Kirra did the Toddler Trot and had a blast, except that she wanted to keep running past the 50 yards… so I think next year I will enter her in the half mile….
It all went off without a hitch, and in my four years there, was the most fun, and relaxed. I was better prepared administratively, and had full time “temp office” support this year which was amazingly helpful, and I got to shake things up with a new race day job that I absolutely loved! I was out on the course this year / vs. the finish line, so I feel like I experienced the marathon a little more. It was amazing to see some peoples determination when they fell back to the pace vehicles, and then fought their way to finish ahead of us.
After the marathon weekend we’ve gotten to sleep in an extra half hour each day or so this week, so that’s been nice, especially since Kirra has been a night owl lately and not wanting to go to bed on time. Lately its been 9pm or so, and then she moves like molases in the morning!
We had gymnastics again at 5:30 on Monday, and Kirra did NOT have her listening ears, or her “big eyes” on as well as the week before. She was wanting to go on equipment that wasn’t part of our class, and was nervous about some of the “tricks” we were doing…. well since our class “technically” started on Labor Day, and they were closed – we got a make up slip, so we visited the class below Kirra’s this past Wednesday (10/6) at 6:30pm which isn’t as structured, and is more like free play, and let me tell you!!! Kirra and I had way more fun! I talked to the instructor, and she said we can just switch over, and there are lots of 3 y/o that are still in the first level and to just go and have fun! So now we’re in Tiny Twisters 1.
Tomorrow is Jason’s birthday – 29~ so we’ll be the same age for a few months!! We’re going to go to the Outback for dinner, so that should be nice, and I think Jason is going to work on the basement! Which will be great. I can’t wait until the living room is done down here!
Well that’s all I have for right now…. 🙂

Worship and birthday party…

Well we woke up early this morning to go to Home Depot to pick out tile for the basement and carpet. We picked out a tile, and thankfully it was on sale, so we bought all that we needed for our basement.

On the way home it was only 10 a.m. so I decided to go to Lino Lakes church with Kirra and the service was amazing! One of the worship songs was so touching, especially with 2000 + people singing all at once. It actually brought tears to my eyes, and before I knew it I had lots of tears!
After church was over Kirra and I came home for lunch, and then took naps. Kirra had other ideas, but I definitely took a nap. Once we [Jason and I] woke up it was time to head over to my folks house for Missy’s Birthday!
Thinking of a really good wish…..

Blowing out her candles

Um… yeah… I’m 38…..

Gran was with us in spirit, since this would have
been her 95th birthday!

Going Rogue

Going Rogue isn’t only the name of Sarah Palin’s new book, its also what we’ve been up to this past weekend!

When Jason got home from work on Friday night he brought me to Menards to show me what he has been doing there, and how much he has to pour, which is quite a bit!!! After that we went over to Chipotle and got a bite to eat, and back home. We went to bed rather early which was fine with me. Jason began work at 2am, and I was still getting over being sick.
Saturday we woke up early and brought Kirra to Jason’s parents. Then we were off to look at cars. We were going to go down to Burnsville to look at the Calibers, but Jason wanted to look around the White Bear/Maplewood area first…
First we went to White Bear Dodge, and they didn’t have prices on anything, and then I wanted to go down to Kline Nissan, because Amillie mentioned there was an Altima in our price range… Well Amillie and her co-worker greeted us, and they asked what we were looking at. I told them I loved the Rouges, but didn’t know if we could afford THAT… but since Jason does all our finances he knows where we’re at…. and it turns out we COULD afford THAT!!!! So I went on a test drive, and found out I absolutely LOVE LOVE how the Nissan Rouge drives. Its amazing.
So we spent most of the day at the dealership, afraid our new car/suv/truck? was going to get hit with hail, but it made it! We drove away in our new car. Bon Voyage Sebring… Jason then surprised me with dinner at Flame in Roseville. We even ran into Rick and Rose, my aunt and uncle! I got Steak Skewers and he got the Lamb. We then shared a slice of cheesecake! NUM!
Finally I had no idea where we were going, and then all the sudden he pulls into the Courtyard, and treated me to a spa king suite for the night, so that was pretty romantic, especially since it was our Anniversary weekend!
Went and picked Kirra up today, did laundry, took pictures, and went to church, of course all while enjoying my new car that doesn’t get too hot/actually runs normal/and doesn’t flood when i turn on the air conditioning. Brilliant!!!
Kirra is watching Elmo with Daddy right now getting some Kirra/Daddy time! 🙂 Life is good!
Leather interior and heated seats rock!
Still have my license plates, and URWILD looks so much
better on a crossover don’t you think?
And I really AM bringing sexy back 🙂

Made it thru

So far i’ve managed to visit Gran every day since Thursday. Each day is dramatically different. Thursday she was sitting up in bed eating dinner… and then went to bed, shortly after that…. Friday she was completely out the whole time, so we thought that was it…. last night she would wake up and try to talk, so she’s still hanging on, but we still think the end is near. 😦

Kirra has been an absolute joy to me. Last night on our way home she was singing something in the background, so I turned the radio on and here she is singing Twinkle, Twinkle little Star in a two year old version of course, but still! I was floored. I never taught her that. So we sang it together the whole way home!
I got a new pool last night. Kirra is scared to swim in the big pool and I am having the darndest time keeping it the right color! It was semi-swimable earlier this week, but now it’s pea green… or worse. It looks like purreed green beans, with lots of water added in. Super gross. I’m going to just empty it and take it down. Our new “kiddie pool” is sort of big enough for me (at least) to put a pool mattress in it and get a suntan. No more big pool for me. I’m obviously not qualified to have one…
If I’m talking a lot and I tell Kirra something she doesn’t want to here she points at me, and says “No-No Mama”. Its sassy, but rather cute. Today at breakfast she told me to “shhhhhhhh” and then whispered, “that’s better mama”.
Jason is still putting in a lot of hours at work, so I don’t see him too often, but he has been supportive as well with this whole ordeal with Gran.
This song has been a great comfort to me.

Oh happy days

I’m so glad its finally spring out! Kirra has been absolutely LOVING playing outside, and it makes my training for my half marathon more enjoyable when I don’t have to be cold when I run! Here are some pictures of our trip to the zoo yesterday, and some others as well that I thought you might enjoy!

Children’s Museum

Kirra and I met up with our friends Izze & Nicole (and Ariana & Michelle were with too). It was a free day so it was PACKED!!!! Not totally sure if I’ll go on a free day after this! I definitely would like to try something different though like… the zoo, or something like that. Kirra really did like playing in the water stations though. Here are some cute photos I captured of her today.
I think perhaps I’ll take a bubble bath at the kids museum

Yeah! This is really a good look for me!
