Sandbox K

A week or so ago my co-worker gave me her kids old sandbox with white beach sand for K to play with. At first she wasn’t too sure she liked it, but she’s been warming up to it. K’s been good. She still has her cough but is a lot better than before! She will be 18 months old in just 10 days. I can’t even begin to believe how fast time is going.
Last weekend was the big Get in Gear 10K, and I did really well. I even surprised myself a little bit. I didn’t feel well at all last weekend, but I took lots of Motrin, sudafed and antihistamine and made it thru. I’m thinking the 10K might just be my favorite distance of all time.
I had to go back to the doctor early last week, because I still can’t hear well. Hopefully that will get better with time, drugs or something! I’m already on my 2nd batch of antibiotic, and I think it might be working a little bit…. If not, my PA gave me a consult to ENT and I have an appointment in a week or so.

It’s event mode now with my full time and part time job, so I’m definitely keeping busy. I’m so fortunate to work in an industry that I love. Next weekend is fishing opener/Moms Club over, Moms day 5K that I will run with K, and Blaine garage sales , so its going to be a very busy week coming up!

I love you baby K.

Weekend Fun

Poor Kirra came down with Pink eye on Thursday afternoon, so she stayed home with Daddy on Friday. This morning I ran with the Running Mom’s Club down at Lake Harriet in Minneapolis. It was so much fun, and there were so many people out. It was great to run with a real running community. Kirra seems to be feeling much better. No more goop, and no more redness. Jason and I missed the Flood Run today 😦 but I think we’re going to go out on the bike for a little ride elsewhere.

We’ve been reading the Twilight Saga books and they are very very good. Jason is on book 4/4 and I am on book 3/4.

Tomorrow I am helping time an event in Minneapolis, and plan on going to church sometime this weekend…. 🙂

Oh Happy Days!

Well Kirra has been in a better mood lately, but she still has her moments of course. Her teeth are coming in like mad!

She is now wearing her first pair of size 3 shoes. MAN, she has tiny feet, but then again, so do I. They are cute pink little crocks.

She also hasn’t had any coughing attacks for several days now, so that is great! We think this double dose of Prevacid is really doing the trick, at least that is what we’re hoping for. I really have my fingers crossed that she is done now for a while.

I (Lindsey) have a sinus infection and a double ear infection with my ear drums perforated. Gosh I am tore up. I have some antibiotics so I hope to feel better soon!

I’m just so glad Kirra is coughing attack free, for now!

Crabby K

K has been pretty crabby the past few days. We looked in her mouth (during tickle time) and low and behold she’s getting a mouthful of teeth! Poor K! She’s getting at least two molars on top, plus an ‘eye’ tooth. She’s also been back on the Flovent for her “asthma” and we’re on double dose of Prevacid for heartburn (GERD).

Not 100% sure if it’s all working yet, but we’re supposed to give it all two weeks or so. Hopefully she’s better otherwise they want to do a pH probe up her nose, down her throat for 24 hours which requires an over night hospital stay at the U of M Children’s. So… HOPEFULLY we don’t have to do any of that. I can’t imagine she’d be too excited.

I (lindsey) have been fighting a cold, and had to stay home today. I slept about 18 hours, and it felt good and refreshing!

I had a Pampered Chef party last weekend, and am getting lots of stuff myself. I’m excited to quite excited.

Jason and I are going out for a “date night” on Friday so that should be fun! We haven’t had a “date night” for quite a while.

I will post more on K later this week.

More News

So… the pulmonologist called back with some news. Concrete news!
So, we learned on Wednesday that Kirra definitely has the reflux going on. They also did a regular chest x-ray which showed a tiny little collapse in her right upper lobe of her lung, which indicates some aspiration. Which means that sometimes when she has the reflux, it goes into her lungs.
I guess anytime you get anything into your lungs your lungs really don’t like it, so you can cough and cough and cough, plus to protect your lungs they make mucus, which in turn makes you cough more…. So all of that totally makes sense. It can cause an asthmatic reaction in your body which is why sometimes the inhaler works for her.
So we’re going to double her dosage of the prevacid, and also continue to give her the daily steroid inhaler to try to rebuild her lungs, and keep them strong so that if she aspirates they’ll be able to take it.

We’re supposed to call the doctor back in 2 weeks and give her an update.

Does have reflux.

Today was the Barium swallow study, and structurally Kirra doesn’t have any problems. Everything is hooked up right. We did find out she has reflux for sure. Now we just wait for the pulmonologist to call us back for the next step, whatever that may be. I think I am going to do some research on reflux.

NOT Allergies

The pediatrician/pulmonologist called yesterday and let us know that Kirra’s mold and milk allergies came back with a 0/5. And her all encompassing allergy test came back a 4/64. So she has no allergies.

Today is the swallow study so hopefully we will know more once that is complete. Kirra coughed from about midnight until 5:30am, when we finally woke her up and gave her the albuterol. she promptly stopped coughing after that. Maybe it is asthma? I was reading that there are other things besides allergies that can cause an asthmatic reaction such as virus’, weather, etc. I wish she was big enough to do the test for it.

Hopeful for tomorrow…

Well tomorrow we’re going back to the U of M for more tests. Kirra is done taking the Prednisone, and didn’t turn into “too much” of a monster. No actually she was just fine. We can’t tell if the Prednisone even worked or not since Kirra has a cold on top of everything else. She is still coughing, but it seems to be less… and Tally hasn’t had to give her the rescue inhaler lately, and neither have we. So I suppose it helped whatever the inflammation in her lungs was… I just hope she gets over this cold soon!

Tomorrow she has the Barium Swallow study on x-ray to see the structure of her airways, and her upper digestive system. I think this will also reveal if she does have reflux, but I’m not sure.

We’re also supposed to get the allergy tests back tomorrow as well. My friend told me about how her daughter has enlarged adneoids and that’s why she’s been coughing for 5 months straight, so if we don’t learn anything new tomorrow, I think that will be our next step. Our appointment is at 1:00pm, so I will post more information tomorrow night.

I hope you like the new blog…..

Kirra has been so fun lately, trying new things, and loves to help me in the kitchen.

She’s also got a few friends from our mom’s group. Above is a picture of Kirra and Aiden.
