3.5 Miles

Back to runing again, and I feel like I ran a 10K when I only did 3.5 miles. My body felt punished after a 1.5 week break of NO running at all. Gosh I’ve been so naughty. I need to keep up with it now, otherwise my race will be sheer torture! There are only 11 weeks left until my race date, and I know that its going to come far too soon for me. The route I took was really nice. It was thru a nice quiet neighborhood that didn’t have a lot of traffic, which was GREAT! The snow cover was vast though which proved a little tricky for stepping. There were some spots that were melted that I could get good traction, but I had to give back the yak tracks so it was a little like running thru a white sandy beach. It was kind of warm though. Tomorrow i’m going to have a recovery run of just 1 mile. To keep up with the actual running motion, but also take it easy with an EASY mile. I’m enjoying my day off very much! I haven’t done a whole lot except spend time with Jason and Kirra, go on a run, take a long bath, and vege out. We rented a few movies yesterday for Valentines day, and have two down, one to go. We rent them from RedBox, so we need to get them back by 9pm tonight.

We have a suprise

So for about the past two years I have had a very strong desire to have a digital SLR camera. Finally after cashing in my savings bonds from high school I was able to purchase one! The shutter speed on the camera is amazingly fast! I just got it today, and Kirra came and helped me buy it. I got the Nikon D3000. I think I will start project 365 over again to get used to my camera and to practice it, and learn it. Jason loves it too, so that is great!
I’ll be driving to work tomorrow instead of taking the bus, so i’ll take some pictures of my office so you can see where I work!!! Well I’m off to read. I have small group tomorrow, and I need to read my chapter :-).

That’s all folks!

Happy Monday

Well today was quite the adventure. It snowed buckets last night, so first I got to the bus a little later than I should have, but I still made it on before 7am. But the traffic down I-35W was so slow that I ended up missing my 755 route bus. So the second 755 bus doesn’t come until 8:11am, and I got down to Minneapolis at 7:50am. Well, the bus didn’t even come until 8:27. So it was 16 minutes late! I was freezing.

Work was really good. Our old intern was re-hired in a full time position, so it was nice to have her back. When I left work my bus was LATE! Then because of traffic/snow I didn’t even get home until 5:45pm! AHHH! I could have drove faster for sure.
We rushed and didn’t even know if we would make it to swimming on time, but luckily we did. Kirra had a BLAST. She got to swim in this foam floatie ring that Kirra swam in, actually all by herself! I didn’t even hang on to her at some points. She did so good. Our Instructor advised us to move up to the next level class this spring.
After swimming lessons we went over to the Shoreview library and found out we could use our anoka county library card there. They had a HUGE selection and I got another book. I got a Jodi Picult book called second glance, which is about haunted houses, and this one ghost hunters quest to find his dead finance in the spiritual realm. I’ll be excited to read it, hopefully i’m not too scared. Well I should go read, so I can go to bed I have to wake up earlier for the bus tomorrow!!!

Go Saints!

What a super fun Super Bowl party we had here at our house today. We had Pam & Phil over and Frank & Theo. We just did a really casual sandwich potluck, and chips. Theo made her delicious 7 layer bars, and then she went off and LEFT them here for us to eat. Kirra had a blast entertaining everyone and was in such a good mood all day!

Totally fell off the wagon with my training. I absolutely MUST get back on the horse this week though. I have a lot of people counting on me to do a good job, or eat least not suck it up too bad. So!! Tuesday-Thursday & Saturday this week.
This past Saturday we had a kids race for work, and i got to dress up like Shelly our mascot! I even had to run 75 meters too in this costume! I didn’t know if I was going to make it, but I did. My fellow mascot buddies were so helpful in humoring my “debut”. I’m sure I’ll have pictures to follow up this post.
I’ve been researching dSLR cameras a lot this past weekend, and I think I’m settling on a Nikon D3000. My good friend has one that is very similar, and she just loves it. I found some old savings bonds from High School that I will put towards the camera. I’m very excited!!! Hopefully this week I can buy the new camera.
It snowed a lot today so I’m going to be taking the bus as much as I can this week. I think I only have to drive 1 day this week. I plan to read, and hopefully my bus tomorrow doesn’t switch numbers on me like last week!!!
Well gotta get ready to go to bed. Tata.

Midweek

The problem is that I don’t want her to be anything…Sometimes it feels like I want her to be everything

Isn’t this just the plain truth. How many things should you put your kid in, and when is enough enough? Kirra is currently in swimming for sports and AWANA. I’ve thought about putting her in dance, gymnastics and piano lessons too, but I don’t want to overwhelm her, and I don’t want to overwhelm myself. I know its just going to get worse as we get older. I have quite a few mom’s friends who are all doing different things with their kids, and it all sounds so much fun. Like the quote says, I don’t want her to be anything… sometimes it feels like i want her to be everything. I’m smart enough to realize however that she can’t just be everything….

Pam is coming over tomorrow to watch Kirra. I think they’ll have lots of fun. Jason and Phil are going off ice fishing. I hope they catch something for dinner!

Swimming Lessons

We had a very fun night tonight at swimming. Kirra got to practice some more independent type swimming. She had a floatie board, and then just hung on to the edge and kicked and kicked. She actually was “swimming” all by herself! It was great. She was doing really well and the instructor told us that we may want to consider doing private lessons. They have a pre-school class that will start up in September, but since Kirra won’t quite be 3 at that time she may not be able to join in the class. She said if we do private lessons then she will be taught at whatever level she is ready for. She seems to really like it, so we’ll see what the funds look like. Even private lessons are considerably cheaper than Foss. The water does seem to keep getting colder though! I’m going to take the bus tomorrow. I feel like reading, and I don’t feel like driving. Sara Jane is coming over for some yummy Mac & Cheese. Off to bed so I can catch the bus in the morning!
