Go Saints!

What a super fun Super Bowl party we had here at our house today. We had Pam & Phil over and Frank & Theo. We just did a really casual sandwich potluck, and chips. Theo made her delicious 7 layer bars, and then she went off and LEFT them here for us to eat. Kirra had a blast entertaining everyone and was in such a good mood all day!

Totally fell off the wagon with my training. I absolutely MUST get back on the horse this week though. I have a lot of people counting on me to do a good job, or eat least not suck it up too bad. So!! Tuesday-Thursday & Saturday this week.
This past Saturday we had a kids race for work, and i got to dress up like Shelly our mascot! I even had to run 75 meters too in this costume! I didn’t know if I was going to make it, but I did. My fellow mascot buddies were so helpful in humoring my “debut”. I’m sure I’ll have pictures to follow up this post.
I’ve been researching dSLR cameras a lot this past weekend, and I think I’m settling on a Nikon D3000. My good friend has one that is very similar, and she just loves it. I found some old savings bonds from High School that I will put towards the camera. I’m very excited!!! Hopefully this week I can buy the new camera.
It snowed a lot today so I’m going to be taking the bus as much as I can this week. I think I only have to drive 1 day this week. I plan to read, and hopefully my bus tomorrow doesn’t switch numbers on me like last week!!!
Well gotta get ready to go to bed. Tata.

Midweek

The problem is that I don’t want her to be anything…Sometimes it feels like I want her to be everything

Isn’t this just the plain truth. How many things should you put your kid in, and when is enough enough? Kirra is currently in swimming for sports and AWANA. I’ve thought about putting her in dance, gymnastics and piano lessons too, but I don’t want to overwhelm her, and I don’t want to overwhelm myself. I know its just going to get worse as we get older. I have quite a few mom’s friends who are all doing different things with their kids, and it all sounds so much fun. Like the quote says, I don’t want her to be anything… sometimes it feels like i want her to be everything. I’m smart enough to realize however that she can’t just be everything….

Pam is coming over tomorrow to watch Kirra. I think they’ll have lots of fun. Jason and Phil are going off ice fishing. I hope they catch something for dinner!

Swimming Lessons

We had a very fun night tonight at swimming. Kirra got to practice some more independent type swimming. She had a floatie board, and then just hung on to the edge and kicked and kicked. She actually was “swimming” all by herself! It was great. She was doing really well and the instructor told us that we may want to consider doing private lessons. They have a pre-school class that will start up in September, but since Kirra won’t quite be 3 at that time she may not be able to join in the class. She said if we do private lessons then she will be taught at whatever level she is ready for. She seems to really like it, so we’ll see what the funds look like. Even private lessons are considerably cheaper than Foss. The water does seem to keep getting colder though! I’m going to take the bus tomorrow. I feel like reading, and I don’t feel like driving. Sara Jane is coming over for some yummy Mac & Cheese. Off to bed so I can catch the bus in the morning!
